Punchestown target for Buveur D’Air
Nicky Henderson says Buveur D’Air is likely to contest the BETDAQ Champion Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival.
Buveur D’Air failed to finish in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival when bidding for a third win in the showpiece, but then came in second in the Aintree Hurdle last week. Henderson now has his sights set on a run out at Punchestown for the eight-year-old, who has two wins in five outings this year. ‘Buveur D’Air only ran at Aintree last week, but he has come out of the race very well and we’ve made an entry for him at Punchestown,’ he said, as reported by Sky Sports. ‘He is of an age now that he can do these sort of things and run at Punchestown and if Buveur D’Air tells me in a fortnight that he is in good form, he will hopefully go. ‘With the meeting being in May this year, we do have extra time between Aintree and Punchestown, which is a big help. ‘We’ll just keep an eye on the ground in the meantime. ‘ The Punchestown Festival begins on April 30 and the BETDAQ Champion Hurdle will take place on May 3.Follow us on Twitter racing365dotcom and like our Facebook page.
