Prescott thrilled with Alpinista as Arc bid now looms large
Prix Vermeille likely to be next.
All roads lead to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe for Alpinista after Sir Mark Prescott’s prolific mare extended her winning run to six on her belated reappearance at Saint-Cloud. The daughter of Frankel won each of her five starts in 2021 including a hat-trick of Group One triumphs in Germany between August and November. Having missed her intended comeback in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, Alpinista journeyed to France to make her return in what looked a strong renewal of the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. After being ridden patiently by Luke Morris, the 8-1 shot threw down her challenge in the straight, picking up strongly to beat Baratti by a length and a quarter.🤩 What a performance from Alpinista! The five-year-old mare is back with Group One success in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud for Luke Morris and Sir Mark Prescott… pic.twitter.com/gHpyp7hzkM
