Cottin dreaming of Gold Cup with Easyland
Trainer David Cottin says Easyland could end up running in the Cheltenham Gold Cup in years to come after his win at this year's Festival.
The French star is now back in Ireland and enjoying a well-earned break after a huge win earlier this month. JP McManus’ charge won the Glenfarclas Chase at Cheltenham, getting the better of defending champion Tiger Roll to extend his winning run to seven races. Easyland has now won on two occasions at Prestbury Park, and connections are confident he will return to Cheltenham next year. McManus only purchased him after his win in December but it proved to be a shrewd pick up after he beat Tiger Roll by 17 lengths. Cottin says his stable star is now enjoying a holiday in County Limerick and he admits a Gold Cup charge is not out of the question in the future. He told Sky Sports Racing: ‘He actually went straight back to the owner’s place in Ireland from Cheltenham, but I believe he is perfect. ‘I think the plan would be to go down the same route next season – going back to Cheltenham in December and March, with Pau in between. ‘It would be a dream to run in the Gold Cup, but let’s see what happens.’
