Elliott sticking to same Envoi Allen plan
Trainer Gordon Elliott says Envoi Allen will stick to the original plan and race in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.
The six-year-old has enjoyed a phenomenal record in his short career so far, winning all eight races he has entered. He won the Grade 1 Weatherby Champions Bumper at Cheltenham last year and is set for a run in Wednesday’s Ballymore race. A potential switch to the Supreme was considered but Elliott now says he will stick with the original intention. After checking the ground on Sunday morning, Elliott is convinced the Ballymore will be the best race for his horse. ‘I walked the track early this morning and it’s not as bad as I expected at all.The one worry I had all along for Envoi Allen was a slog on heavy ground in the Ballymore,’ he said. ‘I’ve said all along I think the Ballymore is the race which would suit Envoi Allen best so I’m thrilled that’s where we’re going. He seems to be in great form and I’m looking forward to the race.’
