Benbatl set for rest ahead of Dubai World Cup
Saeed bin Suroor says Benbatl will be given time to rest ahead of the Dubai World Cup at Meydan on March 28.
Having managed to win Group One events on turf in Dubai, Germany and Australia, Benbatl has found the switch to dirt a comfortable one and put in a strong performance to finish third at the inaugural Saudi Cup in Riyadh. Trainer Bin Suroor was pleased with the six-year-old’s efforts and now feels Benbatl needs a well-earned rest ahead of the Meydan showpiece later this month. ‘He ran really well to finish third. It was a tough race, but he seems happy since and we are very happy with him,’ said Bin Suroor. ‘We’ll give him an easy time now and get him ready for the World Cup.‘He has had two good runs on dirt, so we are looking forward to going for the World Cup with him now.’
