Definitly Red flexes Grand National muscles
Definitly Red flexed his Grand National muscles by winning Saturday's Premier Chase at Kelso.
The Brian Ellison-trained stayer successfully completed his trial for the National in style, showcasing his superior stamina to draw clear of four rivals in the listed race. Ellison has been targeting the Grand National for Definitly Red all season and jockey Danny Cook believes the 11-year-old’s latest win shows he is on the right path to mount a serious challenge at Aintree on April 4. ‘It was a nice stepping stone and will have put him spot on for Aintree,’ Cook was quoted as saying by the Racing Post. ‘He’s a good, honest horse and hopefully we’ll have another good day at Aintree. ‘ Definitly Red will be hoping to produce a better showing at the Grand National than on his last appearance in the iconic race after he was pulled up when tracking the leaders back in 2017.
