Ballymore option open for Glynn

Henderson charge to be given another run before Festival.

Nicky Henderson’s exciting prospect Glynn will be given one more run before the Cheltenham Festival, when it is hoped he books his ticket for the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle.

The former pointer won on his debut at Doncaster by 11 lengths – but before he is given the green light for the big meeting in March, he will need to do something similar again.

“He’ll be given an entry in the Ballymore – that will be his only option at Cheltenham,” said Dan Downie, racing manager for Glynn’s owners, the Owners Group.

“Obviously, we’re looking to give him a run before then – and he’d have to win to go to Cheltenham.

“He’d only had one run in a point. We bought him at the Aintree sale, and then he went straight off on holiday.

“He was due to run about six or eight weeks ago. But he had a splint, which got a bit aggravated and set him back a little bit – otherwise he’d have been out long before now.”

Glynn’s victory on Town Moor was worth the wait, though.

Downie added: “He did it really nicely – travelled really well – and while we’re not over-excited at the minute, we might be if he wins as well next time!

“I’d imagine he’ll have a run in the middle of next month, then he’ll have had four weeks either side.”

Another in the Owners Group silks is Getaway Trump – but he is currently on the sidelines, having had a wind operation.

“Getaway Trump had had a wind op,” said Downie.

“He had that after his run in the Christmas Hurdle. He’ll be ready to run in March – but in terms of races and targets, nothing has been decided yet.

“His form improved markedly last season, but it might not be a coincidence it came in the spring when the ground was better.

“We thought doing it now, we could still aim him at some nice races in the spring.”
