McDonald will return ‘before the weekend’
PJ McDonald hopes to be back in action by the end of the week, following his fall at Wolverhampton. McDonald was riding Englishman for Milton Bradley on Monday evening when his mount stumbled coming out of the stalls. While nothing is broken, McDonald described himself as “battered and bruised” – but he has every intention of being in the saddle if Laurens runs in Saturday’s Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket. “I’m a little bit sore, so I’m just going to assess it,” he said. “Obviously I’ve taken today off – so hopefully I’ll be back by the end of the week, before the weekend.
“With a horse like Laurens to ride at the weekend, I want to make sure I’m 100%. That’s the main reason I’m taking a few days off, so I’m back for her. “I’m lucky I haven’t broken anything but I am a little bit battered and bruised, so I need to get myself loosened out a bit.”
