Supreme Enable claims Sandown spoils

Enable produced a brilliant performance on her seasonal bow to land the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown Park on Saturday.

In what was her first run for 245 days, Enable, under the guidance of Frankie Dettori, struck for home in the final two furlongs and managed to hold off the challenge of runner-up Magical and third-placed Regal Reality.

The success at Sandown is the five-year-old’s 10th straight victory and trainer John Gosden praised the performance of the dual Arc winner before revealing the next plans for his charge.

‘It’s been a long preparation and she’s only started coming to herself the last two weeks.

Quite frankly, she’s come here at 85 per cent, maybe 90,’ he was quoted as saying by the Racing Post.

‘I was slightly concerned in the last furlong, but Frankie looked after her, it was a lovely ride.

He always wanted to be where he was, he was keen to sit there and she’s an exceptional athlete.

‘To come from an eight-month lay-off to win an Eclipse isn’t an easy thing.

She’s done it all herself and the plan is the King George.’
