Masar set for Newmarket run
Charlie Appleby has confirmed Masar will continue his comeback in the Princess of Wales’s Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket next month.
The colt had been out of action for over a year after winning the Investec Derby at Epsom Downs in June 2018. After a number of setbacks, he returned to action in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot on Saturday. Masar stumbled out of the stalls before finishing fifth after a lack of fitness caught up to him in the final straight. Appleby is now ready to put him through his paces and connections will now send him to Newmarket’s July meeting. He told reporters: ‘Masar has pulled up well this morning. He’s been fully vetted, and everyone is happy with him. ‘The plan with Masar now is to make our way to the Princess of Wales’s at Newmarket’s July meeting. ‘ Appleby had a number of winners across the week and he also confirmed Pinatubo will run in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
