Haggas eyes Ribblesdale run for Frankellina

Haggas provides Sea Of Class update

Trainer William Haggas wants Frankellina to run in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot following her impressive Oaks display.

The daughter of Frankel finished sixth in the Epsom Classic, but she was under five lengths behind eventual winner Anapurna.

That was just the three-year-old’s third run following on from her maiden win at Yarmouth and a second-place finish in the Musidora Stakes at York.

Haggas certainly has high hopes for Frankellina and he would ideally like to run the filly in the Ribblesdale Stakes, although he knows a lot will depend on owner Anthony Oppenheimer, who also has the John Gosden-trained Star Catcher entered in the Group Two contest.

‘She has come out of the Oaks a little bit better than I thought,’ Haggas said.

‘She will certainly be left in the Ribblesdale.

Mr Oppenheimer has one in the race with John Gosden, so I don’t know if he wants two in the race.

‘ Haggas went on to confirm that should Oppenheimer opt against running Frankellina at Royal Ascot then they do have an alternative race in mind.

‘I’ve put her in the Prix de Malleret in France, but I’d like to have a go at the Ribblesdale,’ the trainer added.
