Up The Creek For A Win At Beverley

Five-Year-Old Ready For Another Course Win

Shropshire trainer David Loughnane is in fine form with three winners from his last ten runners and sends STRINGYBARK CREEK across country to Beverley today for the Westwood Handicap over an extended mile.

It is a journey that has proven fruitful before, as the son of Bushranger went to the course twice last year, returning with the equivalent of gold medals each time.

The first, in July, was over seven and a half furlongs off a mark of just 52 – in fairness, not good enough for today’s attempt off 21 lbs higher. By late September, however, he had improved by 20 lbs to take a Class 5 by over two lengths and that augurs well for his prospects today.

His reappearance at Nottingham two weeks ago was full of promise for a successful season and saw him just beaten in a photo by previous third Saisons D’Or, with Ambient in third. Laura Coughlin, who won on the gelding last Autumn takes off seven and the horse is effectively carrying five pounds less if that is put into calculations.

It is an obviously tight handicap with KYLIE RULES attracting money after her easy course and distance win last week; that has the feel of freak about it, however, and 33/1 shot INTENSE STYLE is actually next best on BTO stats and figures to Stringybank, who is top 7/1 with a good few of the layers.
