Gosden sets Guineas deadline
John Gosden says Too Darn Hot’s 2,000 Guineas run will be confirmed either over the weekend or early next week.
The colt has been the general favourite for the Newmarket showpiece for much of the winter but was last week found to have a splint problem which ruled him out of his planned reappearance in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury. While he has been able to trot and do some light exercise, connections feel a speedy return to full work will be required for him to be ready for May 4. Connections are understandably starting to worry and speaking on Tuesday, Gosden confirmed he will wait to see how his unbeaten three-year-old progresses over the next few days whether he goes for the 2,000 Guineas. He was quoted as saying by the Racing Post: ‘We’ll see how we are over the next few days with Too Darn Hot.We’ll make a decision over the weekend or early next week as to his participation in the 2,000 Guineas.’
