National the target for The Young Master
Connections hope The Young Master will be able to contest the Grand National but have other options if he misses the cut.
The Young Master, who came third in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival last week, needs 14 horse above him to drop out to secure a spot in the Aintree showpiece. Trainer Neil Mulholland is hopeful the 10-year-old will secure a place in the National but has a contingency plan if he doesn’t make the maximum field of 40. ‘I’m very happy with him. He’s really good.It was a great run at Cheltenham,’ said Mulholland, as reported by Sky Sports. ‘He’s still in the National and is number 54 in the list. ‘To run in the National is the plan, we would like it to happen, but obviously it’s touch and go whether he gets in. ‘If he doesn’t get in, we’ll be looking at the likes of the Scottish National and races like that.’
