Aintree aim for Sam Spinner
Trainer Jedd O’Keeffe says Sam Spinner is likely to contest the Ryanair Stayers’ Hurdle at Aintree in April.
Sam Spinner finished second behind Paisley Park in the Sun Racing Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and O’Keeffe was happy with the seven-year-old’s performance. With Paisley Park expected to swerve Aintree, the Leyburn handler says a trip to Merseyside and/or Punchestown are the likely options for Sam Spinner. ‘I was absolutely thrilled. It was great to see him back to pretty much his best.Marvellous, a really good team effort getting him back there,’ said O’Keeffe, as reported by Sky Sports. ‘He’s come out of the race 100%. We’re really happy with him. ‘Plans are to go to Aintree, possibly Punchestown as well or instead of. We’re making plans to go to Aintree at the moment, but more than anything to avoid Paisley Park.’
