Aintree Hurdle plan for Ch'tibello

Trainer Dan Skelton was thrilled to take first prize in the Randox Health County Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham.

It is the third time Skelton has guided one of his horses to victory in the race having won with Superb Story in 2016 and Mohaayed last year, and has now further placed his name in the roll of honour.

Ch’tibello ran in the Champion Hurdle last year but has had a quiet time since, not being seen since finishing second at Aintree in December.

However, he ran beautifully around Prestbury Park, marauding his way through the field on the last turn, before flying up the hill to finish ahead of top-weight We Have A Dream by a length and a half.

And Skelton, son of showjumping great Nick, says his love for the race means the win is even more special.

Skelton said: ‘I told Harry (Skelton, jockey) to go out and ride the horse as if he had 10lb in hand, because I’d never had the horse so well, and everything worked out like a dream.

‘I love the County Hurdle and it’s been such an important race for us.

I knew he was more than up to that level, and Harry gave him a great ride.’
