Bailey performs Vinndication U-turn

Trainer Kim Bailey says Vinndication could yet run at next week’s Cheltenham Festival despite previously suggesting otherwise.

The Andoversford-based handler revealed on Monday that the Moremoneythan-owned six-year-old would miss the showpiece meeting following an unsatisfactory performance in a racecourse gallop at Newbury the previous day.

However, Bailey was far happier with how Vinndication performed during a similar gallop on Friday morning and he has now performed a U-turn by stating his charge is likely to run in next Thursday’s JLT Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham.

‘He schooled this morning and schooled very well and worked very well yesterday,’ Bailey said.

‘I was disappointed with him at Newbury, but the ground was horrid and I think he was maybe thinking back to his last run at Sandown.

‘I was really pleased with him this morning.

I could change my mind again between now and next week, but as things stand the intention is to run him in the JLT – unless the ground is like it was at Sandown, in which case he won’t run.

‘ Vinndication has won on six of his seven starts under rules, with his only defeat coming when he finished third in last month’s 888Sport Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown Park.
