Fehily targets weekend comeback

Jump jockey Noel Fehily has set his sights on a comeback from appendix surgery as early as this weekend.

The 43-year-old has been out of action since riding at Huntingdon on January 11 as he pulled out of Kempton’s Lanzarote Hurdle meeting the following day due to stomach pains.

It turned out to be appendicitis which resulted in Fehily being rushed to hospital for keyhole surgery to remove it.

The Irishman has made a rapid recovery and confirmed that he could be back in the saddle very soon.

‘I’m feeling good and getting there,’ said Fehily.

‘I’m looking into riding out and if all goes well I might possibly be back at the weekend or next week.

‘It depends how I get on in the next couple of days.’
