Henderson confirms My Tent Or Yours’ retirement
Nicky Henderson has confirmed that My Tent Or Yours has been retired with immediate effect.
The JP McManus-owned 11-year-old enjoyed a distinguished career as he won nine of the 25 races he competed in, including two victories in Grade 1s – the Fighting Fifth and Christmas Hurdle. In total My Tent Or Yours earned an impressive £800,000 during his career and Henderson admits it is with a heavy heart that he has decided to retire the bay gelding, but the rigours of racing have ultimately caught up with him. ‘It is with great sadness I have to announce we have decided to retire dear old My Tent Or Yours,’ Henderson said in his Unibet blog. ‘His old joints were starting to get a little bit rickety and when he’s galloped around for so many years like he has, the wear and tear starts to show so he deserves an honourable retirement.‘ My Tent Or Yours also enjoyed relative success in the Champion Hurdle, finishing runner-up on three occasions, with Henderson feeling he is the best horse never to win the Cheltenham race. The trainer added: ‘People have said he is the best horse never to have won a Unibet Champion Hurdle and I think they’re right.’
