Jardine issues positive Bedrock update

Head lines up Polydream for Deauville repeat

Ian Jardine has confirmed that Bedrock is recovering well from the injury problem which forced him to miss the Fighting Fifth Hurdle.

The Dumfries trainer had to withdraw his five-year-old for the Grade One outing at Newcastle when he was found to have swelling in a hock.

It was a blow for Jardine given that Bedrock had already defeated the ante-post favourite Samcro in last month’s the Grade Two WKD Hurdle at Down Royal and he was hoping of a repeat at the weekend.

Instead it was Buveur D’Air who proved too hot for the Gordon Elliott-trained Samcro to claim the win, leaving Jardine wondering what might have been.

However, he has now provided a positive update to suggest that bedrock’s absence will not be a lengthy one.

‘The swelling has gone down, and he should be all right in a day or two.

He seems OK,’ said Jardine.

‘We’ve made no plans yet.

We’ll have a think about where we go next and decide.

We’ll see.’
