King optimistic ahead of Ladbrokes Trophy
Trainer Alan King is hoping Dingo Dollar can spring a surprise in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury on Saturday.
The six-year-old is one of 14 runners declared for the event formerly known as the Hennessy Gold Cup and he goes up against some strong company. He impressed on his first outing of the new season earlier this month at Newbury, coming home fourth of 14 in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, and King wants to continue building momentum. ‘I was very pleased with his run over hurdles and everything has gone well since,’ said King ‘Obviously there’s a lot of rain around and he wouldn’t want the ground too soft. As long as it doesn’t get too desperate, I hope he’ll run well.‘Whether he’s classy enough to win a Ladbrokes Trophy I’m not sure, but I think he deserves to take his chance.’
