God’s Own aimed at Punchestown
God’s Own could have the opportunity to claim a third win at the Punchestown Festival, according to trainer Tom George.
Having claimed the victory in the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter earlier this month, the 10-year-old has shown there is still plenty of energy in his legs ahead of his next challenge. George is fully aware the going will play a key factor for his veteran runner but the plan at present is to have another crack at glory at the Punchestown Festival. ‘He loves Punchestown,’ George said. ‘Exeter, going right-handed over two-mile-one on good ground, he loves – and Punchestown is virtually the same.‘It will be a case of trying to be in the right place where the ground is right. ‘Of course, it would be great to take him to Ireland at the end of the season. But we are simply governed by the ground with him.’
