Meade delighted with Road to Respect form

Trainer Noel Meade insists Road To Respect is in good form ahead of returning to action at Down Royal on Saturday.

The seven-year-old goes in the JNwine.

com Champion Chase over the weekend in the hope of starting this season in the same form as last term.

Road To Respect won his seasonal bow at Punchestown in 2017 before finishing second at Down Royal and third at Leopardstown, while he claimed fourth spot in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Meade is pleased with the form of his charge heading into Saturday’s event but admits he might need some time to get back into the swing of things.

‘He’s in great form and everything has gone well.

He’s in great shape and I couldn’t be happier with him at the moment,” Meade said.

‘It’s his first race of the season, so I’m sure he’ll improve, but he’s fit and well and he does run well fresh.

‘We purposely kept him fresh and we’re looking forward to running him.’
