Almania benched for rest of 2018
Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Saeed Suhail, has hinted Almania will not race again this year.
Almania had been expected to go for the Vertem Futurity at Doncaster on Saturday week but, after further consideration from connections, the two-year-old will not make the trip to South Yorkshire. The son of Australia, who got off the mark over seven furlongs at Sandown on his latest outing in the Bet & Watch At 188bet.co.uk EBF Maiden Stakes, will instead be prepared for 2019 and a step up in distance.‘He’s OK, but he’s not going to Doncaster for the Futurity,’ Raymond was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. ‘He probably won’t run again this year. We’ll probably save him for next year. ‘A mile and a quarter plus will be his distance next year.’
