Boitron primed for French run out

Hannon talks up Urban Icon ahead of 2000 Guineas

Trainer Richard Hannon admits Boitron may run in France for the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere rather than the Darley Dewhurst Stakes.

Currently unbeaten, the three-year-old colt will be stepping up in class for either of the races planned for her.

Having won three races from three, the Le Havre born horse could not have had a better start in racing, and Hannon feels the conditions in France will suit him to a tee ahead of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe meeting.

‘I spoke to them (owners, Middleham Park Racing) and it is looking like we will go for either the Lagardere or the Dewhurst,’ said Hannon.

‘It looks like the Dewhurst is going to be quite a smart race this season.

‘I think he will like the ground in the Lagardere and the mile will be no problem.

‘He looks great, both races are a bit of a step up, but we have next year in mind for him.’
