Appleby backs Doyle ahead of Australia test
Trainer Charlie Appleby is happy to have jockey James Doyle on board Jungle Cat in Australia this weekend.
Jungle Cat is set to compete in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield, Melbourne, on Saturday – his first outing since winning the Al Quoz Sprint in March.Doyle partnered the six-year-old in Meydan and Appleby is hoping for another positive result.
“We’re fortunate at [owners] Godolphin to retain two world-class jockeys, who we can send to any country when required,’ he told the Racing Post.
“James knows Australian racing well and won the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint on Jungle Cat earlier in the year.
‘
Jungle Cat has three wins in as many races so far in 2018, with Doyle the jockey in two of those outings, and all have taken place at Meydan.
