Kew Gardens hands O’Brien further St Leger success
Kew Gardens stormed home to give Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore back-to-back wins in the William Hill St Leger at Doncaster.
Stablemate Capri charged home in 2017 and Kew Gardens was on hand to follow suit on Saturday afternoon.Moore urged him to kick for home with two furlongs to go and he did well to stay on towards the finish line, with Lah Ti Dar in second.
O’Brien, who won the St Leger for the sixth time, also claimed third with Southern France.
The legendary Irish trainer admits it was a ‘smooth’ ride from Moore on one of the final big days of the Flat racing season.
He told the Racing Post: ‘It was very smooth and he’s a very uncomplicated horse. He tries very hard and has a great attitude to life. He picked up really well.’
