Arkle the likely next target for Glen Forsa
Assistant trainer Jack Channon says Glen Forsa’s likely race at the Cheltenham Festival will be the Racing Post Arkle Trophy.
The seven-year-old surprised pre-race favourite Kalashnikov to win the rearranged Kingmaker Novices’ Chase at Sandown on Friday and is now expected to focus on Cheltenham next month. Glen Forsa has entries in both the Arkle and the JLT Novices’ Chase and Channon, assistant to his father Mick, admits the former is the more likely route. ‘I’d say the Arkle has to be the favourite at the moment, but all options are still open. ‘I’m not going to make a concrete decision and look silly. He has come out of the race at Sandown on Friday really well and has been in the paddock bucking and kicking. ‘The more and more I look at it, it was a hugely-impressive performance. Let’s hope he can repeat it at the Cheltenham Festival.’
