Skelton buoyant on Shishkin future
Jockey Harry Skelton believes Shishkin could be a future star after his win at Cheltenham in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
The six-year-old competed in a star-studded field at Cheltenham earlier this month, in what was the first race of the world-famous festival. He was up against the likes of Abracadabras and favourite Asterion Forlonge. The Nicky Henderson-trained horse performed admirably on the day, despite making errors during the race. Ridden by Nico de Boinville, he made a mistake at the third hurdle and was lucky not to be taken down by a faller at the fifth. However, he rode through and claimed the prize by a head from Abracadabras. Skelton, who won the Champions Chase with Politologue at Cheltenham, was clearly impressed with his performance and says he would like a chance to ride him again. ‘Everything that could go wrong did and he still won. He has it all and looks set for a big future,’ he said.Follow us on Twitter racing365dotcom and like our Facebook page.
