Mighty Missile At Wincanton 18:20
Hurdler To Recapture Some Former Glory
The Brian Barr trained MIGHTY MISSILE has more letters after his name than an Oxford Don and hasn’t won since the Spring of 2017, but there are reasons for thinking he can get his head in front today. Formerly rated as high as 124, he goes this evening off 84, a mark that would have enabled him to put a furlong or so between himself and his pursuers a few years ago when trained by Warren Greatrix. He developed breathing problems, however, and has had two wind operations, the latest a year ago. Back on the racecourse after that year’s break, he performed much better at Newton Abbot three weeks ago, when, over a distance too short for him, he was beaten nine lengths by Malangen, who was completing a hat-trick. That was very encouraging and, wearing his usual tongue-tie and cheek-pieces this evening, he goes over half a mile further on a course he has won at. He is top rated on BTO figures and gets three positives. FORTIA is next best on ratings, whilst PRESS GANG, another former decent performer but on the flat, wears first time blinkers. The Mighty Missile is a solid 9/2 at Wincanton 18:20. Racecard & Silks G LeesFollow us on Twitter racing365dotcom and like our Facebook page.
