Watch Me retired following Rothschild victory
Connections call time with Deauville scorer.
Dual Group One-winning filly Watch Me has been retired less than a week after her victory in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville. The daughter of Olympic Glory was a surprise winner of the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot last summer, before going on to finish fourth in the Prix Jacques le Marois and third in the Prix de l’Opera. Having made an impressive start to her four-year-old campaign in a Listed event at Deauville last month, Watch Me doubled her top-level tally with a battling display last Sunday – and it proved to be her final competitive appearance. Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard said: “I wasn’t completely happy with how she came out of the race. “We spoke to the owners and we decided together that we should respect the filly (by retiring her). “It was a good way for her to finish – she proved she’s a very good filly. Now we have to try to find another one.”Watch Me won five of her nine career starts in all – earning more than GBP 550,000 in win and place prize-money.
