Addeybb delivers Queen Elizabeth gold for Haggas
British runner takes Group One prize at Randwick.
Addeybb claimed an impressive victory in the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on Saturday. William Haggas’ runner struck Group One gold under Tom Marquand in the Ranvet Stakes last month and he added another top-level success as he saw off Verry Elleegant and Japanese raider Danon Premium in style. Addeybb and Marquand were leading the field turning into the straight, with Danon Premium making his bid for glory around a furlong and a half out.It briefly looked as though Danon Premium could grab the 10-furlong prize, but Addeybb seemed to have plenty in reserve and when Marquand gave the signal, he found another gear. Addeybb stretched clear inside the distance, with Marquand easing down just before the line. Verry Elleegant, who was second in the Ranvet, again took the runner-up honours, with Danon Premium third.
