Fly High With Easterby At Beverley
Drop In Class To See Four-Year-Old Home
Tim Easterby is, as usual at this time of the year, in fine form, as exhibited with a double at Pontefract on Sunday and he drops AIRPLANE into a seller for the first time at Beverley this afternoon. The son of 2011 Derby winner Pour Moi possibly hasn’t lived up to his pedigree potential but has managed two wins from 20 runs and doesn’t look as though he dislikes the game. He was only fifth to Metronomic at Catterick last Thursday but was beaten just over a length after adopting his usual front-running tactics. He last won at that course last September under today’s rider Rachel Richardson and his other career win, at Ripon in the middle of June, 2018, was again with her on board. The latest win was off a mark of 60, as was his effort last week, and he goes off 58 today; with distance and ground also ideal he must go well dropping into a seller. The two from six win return of the progeny of Pour Moi at Beverley is encouraging if not definitive. LAFILIA was second in last week’s Catterick race but is 2lbs worse off with Airplane for the length she beat him by and that should be enough. ROYAL FLAG is in the veteran stage but usually runs well though today’s one and a half miles might be a bit sharp for him now and he looks better at two. His last try at this trip saw him beaten 15 lengths. SIYAHAMBA must be breaking owner/trainer Bryan Smart’s heart with 11 placings and a few fourths but no wins from 25 attempts. This could be the day but another placing looks more likely. In his favour is a liking for Beverley by the sons and daughters of his sire Helmet who have won six times there from 40 attempts. Siyahamba has, however, tried twice with no placings. At the 7/2 widely on offer, Airplane should land the odds.
