Switch To Hurdles To Get The Hat-Trick From A Brace
Quick Returner Has Conditions To Win Again
After a career predominantly in the Point-To-Point field, where he won half of his twenty races and was placed in six others, PINK EYED PETE has had a successful 2019, mixing hurdles and chases and achieving three wins. He is back over hurdles this evening and can see off his main rival JIMMY RABBITTE over an ideal two and a half miles trip. His latest run, and win, was over a furlong longer here last week when staying on well in front of previous winner Bletchley Castle and runner-up Included, in a decent little Novices’ Handicap Chase. Over hurdles the furlong shorter trip looks ideal. He seems the same horse over hurdles as he does over the bigger obstacles so the 1lb he is raised from a mark of 115 doesn’t look as though it will stop him. Trainer David Brace is in top form with his Rasasee winning twice in the last ten days. Jimmy Rabbitte was beaten at short odds at Market Rasen 11 days ago, but he looks a typical Dr Richard Newland improver and the return to two and a half miles may suit him well – he won over the distance last year at Catterick. DOVIL’S DATE is on a four-timer but has gone up 13lbs since his last win and that might just hold him back at the moment. It looks a fascinating Class 3 handicap and a close finish is anticipated with Pink Eyed Pete getting up close home. He is at 11/4 with SkyBet and that looks reasonable.
