Arc aim for Sottsass

Connections say the top target for Sottsass is the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Sottsass claimed an eye-catching win in the French Derby at Chantilly, beating French 2000 Guineas winner Persian King in the Prix du Jockey-Club.

Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget has now confirmed his charge will target the Prix Niel on Arc Trials day at Longchamp in September before going for the Arc in October.

‘He’s fine and is still in work.

The plan is for the autumn – the Niel and the Arc.

The Niel will be his next race,’ said Rouget.

Sottsass could come up against Persian King again in the Arc, with Enable currently rated as the favourite ahead of Sea Of Class.
