Bentley content to be unpopular winner
Jockey Harry Bentley says he was content not to be the most popular of winners after securing the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot.
Bentley swooped in to spoil the party, but save the bookmakers, after he came from behind on Biometrick to half Frankie Dettori’s stunning winning run on Thursday. Dettori looked like he could secure yet another win with Turgenev leading with two furlongs to go but Biometrick produced a strong finish to claim the spoils at Royal Ascot. Asked if he knew if it was Dettori who was in front, Bentley said: ‘I did actually. I’ve probably upset a few people there.I’m probably not the most popular winner of the day.’
