Grind Away For A Tasty One
Quick Returner Has Conditions Just Right To Win Again
We all tend to be world class sportsmen or women when watching an event on TV so it might be natural to think it is easy to get things just right on an animal galloping along at a near-40 miles an hour, surrounded by 14 rivals. Thus is the case with MR COCO BEAN, who goes in the penultimate event at Redcar today at 5:20, the Come Racing Again Tomorrow Handicap. He has always been consistent, running in the first four on a dozen occasions from 20 races, but has really come to himself this year, with two wins and a second from four tries. The wins were off 63 (all-weather) and 59, and he goes off 61 today, so that looks good. It was, however, the troubled passage he had in his last race at Haydock on Friday that really points to his chances today. Deliberately held up early, he then was caught two off the rails with just four horses behind him after the bend into the straight. Jockey Ben Curtis then had to wait before switching to the wide outside, where after one tap with the whip he took off and was just half a length down at the line, needing just another dozen yards for a win. His quick return shows intent, he won over course and distance in late May, and will love the going. MR CARBONATOR is clear second best on ratings and SHAKIAH is being backed and is still available at 28/1 with Bet888, but the race really does look full of beans.
