East primed for Curragh run

Hello Youmzain heading to Ascot

Trainer Kevin Ryan expects East to contest the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh later this month.

The Frankel filly was a winner on her first two starts last season at Hamilton Park and Saint-Cloud before narrowly being pipped into second-place by the impressive Newspaperofrecord at the Breeders’ Cup.

East started this year with another strong showing in the French 1000 Guineas earlier this month – finishing in third-place – and Ryan has now confirmed the three-year-old will get another chance to gain a Classic victory at the Curragh on May 26.

‘She’ll go for the Irish Guineas,’ Ryan confirmed.

‘She took the French run well and I was very pleased with her.’ Ryan will certainly be hoping East can deliver on the big stage, as he goes in search of his first victory in the Irish 1,000 Guineas – a race that was won by the impressive Alpha Centauri 12 months ago.
