Havlin relishing return
Jockey Robert Havlin is looking forward to getting back to work when he returns from injury at Kempton Park on Wednesday.
The 45-year-old has been out of action since suffering a nasty fall at Kempton on February 5, when he sustained a broken collarbone and rib plus a collapsed lung after a fall from Beehaar. The horse was fatally injured in the tumble and it has taken Havlin some weeks to get himself fit enough to return to the saddle. That will come this week and he is enthusiastic about doing what he does best once again. ‘I’m making a nice, low-key comeback at Kempton.I will be riding there, then at Chelmsford on Thursday and Newbury on Friday,’ he said. ‘Since being out, I’ve been doing school runs – along with taking the kids to gymnastics, swimming lessons and laser tag. The kids don’t want me to go back to work! ‘The collar bone has healed really well, and I got more pain off the rib- but once that settled down it was okay.’
