Injury ends Frost’s National hopes
Jockey Bryony Frost has been ruled out of the Grand National Meeting at Aintree next month with a broken collar bone.
Frost made history last week as she became the first female jockey to win a Grade One race over obstacles at the Cheltenham Festival with her victory on Frodon in the Ryanair Chase. Frost fell at Southwell on Monday and has now been ruled out of the Grand National after sustaining a broken collar bone. ‘I’ve been taken aback by all the support I’ve received since Monday,’ she said in a statement. ‘The racing world is an extremely caring one.Although we are all strangers within it, we become a family when we need each other and that’s the beauty of it. ‘Yesterday I went to see an extremely good specialist in Cardiff where my X-ray results have shown that I’ve fractured my clavicle. ‘ Frost had been tipped to partner Black Corton in the National at Aintree, and would have probably had a few high-profile rides over the three-day festival but she will now sit out Aintree.
