Elliott Ready To Open His Account With Young Chaser

County Meath trainer Gordon Elliott had a less than distinguished day yesterday but can get off the mark with DELTA WORK in the RSA Chase this afternoon.

With the gales likely to batter front runners, it looks advisable to invest in horses that can sit in mid-field and an experienced jockey will help.

Delta Work will have Davy Russell on board, is usually held up and has winning Cheltenham form in the shape of last year’s Pertemps.

He always looked a chaser in the making and his win and second in Group 1 hurdle events at Cheltenham and Punchestown last year were welcome bonuses and precursors to the three chases he has won this season.

He is second to SANTINI on BTO ratings and gets a positive of a 54% better than expected rating for Russell at the course.

His jumping is improving with each race and he had to overcome being hampered in his last race and an iron loss by Russell in his penultimate outing, both at Grade One level.

His rivals have, conversely, had different problems on the journey to Cheltenham, such as Santini’s injury scare, and Delta’s 10/3 for those with a BlackType account looks very attractive.
