Epsom on Enable radar
Enable could contest the Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom ahead of her bid to land a third successive Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
The five-year-old was last seen when winning the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf at Churchill Downs in November and trainer John Gosden is making plans for the new season. Enable had been expected to compete at Epsom last year but a setback delayed her return until September. Gosden’s main target is the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, where Enable will bid to become the first horse to win the race three times in a row, and he says the Group 1 Coronation Cup on May 31 is a strong possibility for her seasonal reappearance. ‘Enable has had a good winter and it was never the intention to get her ready early,’ he told the Racing Post.‘She’s had a nice easy time and she’ll be heading into late May or June before she’s seen in action, with races like the Coronation Cup and Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot on her radar. ‘Beyond that, it’s all about where we have her come the first Sunday in October.’
