Bristol De Mai set for Wetherby return
Bristol De Mai looks set to make his seasonal return in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on November 3.
The Nigel Twiston-Davies trained seven-year-old won the Group Two contest 12 months ago before going on to win the Betfair Chase at Haydock later that month and Anthony Bromley, who is racing manager to owners Isaac Souede and Simon Munir, believes a repeat could be on the cards this year.‘The plan at the moment is to go for the Charlie Hall, then hopefully head to the Betfair Chase again. After that I’m not sure where we go, as we haven’t made any other plans,’ Bromley revealed.
Bromley did admit that Bristol De Mai’s plan does depend on the ground at Wetherby, as he will not be running in the race if the going is too firm.
‘He is very much ground dependent,’ Bromley added. ‘We wouldn’t want to run him on good to firm ground and if he doesn’t get to Wetherby he will have to go to the Betfair Chase first time up.’
