Elliott yet to decide Samcro’s next move
Trainer Gordon Elliott has admitted Samcro’s future plans remain up in the air but he says he would love to win a Champion Hurdle.
The six-year-old was very impressive last season as a novice hurdler, winning each of his first four starts. The Gigginstown House Stud-owned chestnut gelding suffered his first defeat during the Punchestown Champion Hurdle and connections have since kept their plans under wraps.
A career over fences is still on the agenda but Elliott admits he would like to win a Champion Hurdle with his stable star.
He told Betfair: ‘It’s still up in the air at the moment, to be honest.
‘He’s in good form and cantering away. He won’t be doing a fast bit of work maybe for another month.
‘Obviously at some stage I’ll have to sit down and talk to Michael and Eddie (O’Leary, owners) and we’ll make a decision.
‘I’d love to win a Champion Hurdle, but I only train the horse, I don’t own him. I’ll have to talk to the lads and see what they want to do.
‘I’d love to win a Champion Hurdle, that’s all I can say.’
