Start The Day With A Skelton Novice
Don’t Bin This One At Kempton
It’s the day after the Lord Mayor’s Show but a 2/1 or thereabouts winner pays the same at any course and we should have one to collect on at Kempton today. It’s been a wet and windy week, but jockey Bridget Andrews will have to overcome HEATSTROKE to get her mount’s nose in front at the line on the five-year-old FERROBIN, the winner of his last race, at Huntingdon. The gelding is trained by Dan Skelton, who had two winners at Cheltenham this week. That was Ferrobin’s fourth contest in total, and in truth wasn’t a great affair but the son of Robin des Champs could only do what was asked of him – lead all the way and win.It was his first outing after wind surgery and he did it as well as could be expected. Top on BTO regular and speed ratings he has Heatstroke, the mount of Cheltenham victor Nico de Boinville and another winner on his latest outing to beat. The latter was a flat performer for Charlie Hills and is less robustly bred for jumping than Ferrobin and both have had wind surgery. HARAMBE had some decent runs earlier in the season but has become disappointing and Ferrobin is taken at 15/8 to make all at what could be a damp and windy Kempton. G Lees
