It looked at one stage that SONNET ROSE was strictly an all-weather horse and her four career wins have come at Southwell, Chelmsford (twice) and Kempton but she has recently shown she acts on turf with a couple of good displays.

It could be that it is today’s course of Yarmouth that she likes as her figures here read 7,3,3,2,5 and 2.

It could also be that she doesn’t like travelling too far from the Newmarket stables of her trainer, Conrad Allen; again note the Chelmsford and Yarmouth results.

Either way she has a lot in her favour this afternoon.

Beaten in a photo over course and distance just last Thursday she is 2lb lower and retains her jockey Seb Woods, who takes off five.

We have seen that she likes the course and that isn’t surprising as the progeny of her sire Poet’s Choice are 49% better than expected on it according to BTO stats.

LETMESTOPYOUTHERE is next best on form and stats but hasn’t been firing lately and LINCOLN RED is being backed but has failed on his three attempts at seven furlongs.

At 5/2 it’s a few nice words for Sonnet.
