Quick Returner Set To Strike Again
Stayer Has Conditions Just Right For Repeat Win
It would have taken a real optimist to look at the form and pedigree of Gary Moore’s GOSHEN at the end of last season and think of a win in anything other than a three-mile hurdle at somewhere like Uttoxeter. The son of 2007 Derby winner Authorized had been down the field in three events around a mile without showing immense promise but reappeared at Brighton last week in a mile and a half contest and promptly sluiced up from previous Doncaster runner-up and apparent good thing MESSAGE from the Mark Johnston yard. He is clearly a big improver and potential decent stayer; his dam, Hyde, was by another staying influence in Poliglote and today’s distance and Sandown’s uphill finish will be ideal, as will the soft ground on which Authorized’s progeny win at a rate of 16%. A three-year old race like this obviously has a few improvers for the distance, with SPRING RUN (18/1) next best on the ratings and SPARGROVE, who plodded on into second in a slow race at Southwell looking to stay on close home.At 9/4 across the board, it could be a case of ‘Gosh’ from the bookies!
