No Holding Back The Filly Today
Quick Return To Prove Heavenly For Three-Year-Old
Although third at Windsor on her second run, RETICENT ANGEL was looking an all-weather horse with two mid-season victories last year at Lingfield and Chelmsford but altered that opinion with her latest run in the Class 2 Bet365 Handicap at Sandown last Thursday. The basic result – eighth of twelve to Leodis Dream – doesn’t look sensational but disguises, in fact, a much better performance. She was drawn seventh of twelve and was slowly away before Hollie Doyle got her over towards the rails after a couple of furlongs. She then progressed to look a challenger two out but was hampered and then allowed to coast home half a dozen lengths behind the winner, who might very well go on to better things. She showed there that she acts on good to firm, goes off today on the same mark of 81 that she carried at Sandown and now wears cheek-pieces for the second time – the first saw her short-headed in a photo at Kempton last December. Jockey David Probert is up and he has a very acceptable 15% win ratio at the course. Amanda Perrett’s TINTO, another who had a less than clear run last time, looks a big danger whilst TIN HAT is best on ratings. Hills and Bet365 offer the Angel at 10/3, which looks reasonable. G Lees
