Some Things Worth The Wait
Appleby Three-Year-Old Ready For Win
Sometimes convergent factors point to what seems an obvious winner and that might be the case today at Leicester in the Lutterworth Novice Stakes. We have a horse with a perfect pedigree in JUST YOU WAIT, trained by an in-form handler, Charlie Appleby, and who has shown promise in a decent race. By the prodigious Dubawi from Speirbhean, the dam of Teofilo, the three-year-old made his debut at Doncaster at the end of last month and was backed into second favourite. Ridden two out, he was then allowed to get home without being hit by jockey James Doyle. The winner, Bangkok, came out and won the Classic Trial at Sandown yesterday. Appleby is running at five from 18 in the last fortnight, is eight from 44 at the course and the horse is top on BTO regular and speed ratings. Jockey Buick has a stat of 20% from 65 runners. Big stable horses LAAFY (Sir Michael Stoute) and SUCELLUS (John Gosden) will make both the price, and the race into a true test but if Just You Wait is to fulfil expectations he has to take this today.
