Lavery trying to stay focused
Trainer Sheila Lavery is finding it hard to keep herself in check as she gets stable star Lady Kaya ready for the Qipco 1000 Guineas.
Following a winning reappearance at Leopardstown earlier in the month, Lady Kaya is next in action a week on Sunday in the fillies’ Classic at Newmarket. Lavery says she is sick with excitement over the race as Lady Kaya, owned by her niece Joanne Lavery, is her first runner in a Classic. Lavery said: ‘Lady Kaya came out of her Leopardstown race very well, I’m very happy with her and she now heads to Newmarket. ‘She’ll be my first runner in a Classic and I’m just trying to get her there in one piece and trying not to think about it too much – if I do it makes me feel physically ill!‘It will without doubt be the biggest moment of my training career and, without sounding big-headed, I’ve never been one to be scared by the opposition as you just never know.’
